You Really Need A Print Shop

Article Content:

Find Yourself A Good Local Printer

What ever your going to do when it comes to on-line business I think the first rule of advise I would give is to find yourself a good, honest, local print shop. Whoa you say...I have a printer and Adobe and Firefox what do I need with a print shop?

Let me share an experience with you. Recently, I started a little project. I wanted to make some cardboard inserts for a game that I invented called "Misunderestimate" . I did not want to pay for the game to be manufactored so I decided to do it all myself. After hours on the internet learning everything about chip board, card board, die cutters, steel rule cutters, box making, and a kazillion other things I called Trentsprints in Milton Florida and met Terry Spears. Things started looking up!

Terry, his wife Helen and their two children run this wonderful little print shop way the heck out in the middle of nowhere. Which is close to me ! So this is good! Trentsprints publishes books, magazines and Brochures and has a good understanding of the web and best of all they have the time to help you even if your not spending a fortune. Trent is also involved in the community and recently gave a talk to the Santa Rosa Writers Assoiciation about Publishing options.

Here is some of the information from the web site:

"We strive to break the corporate client-agent relationship in hopes of re-establishing the more gratifying approach long left behind, 'Mom and Pop' attitude with a globally competitive product."... Sounds good to me!

Terry, through his numerous contacts, knew what kind of paper I would need to build the boxes for my game. He knew where I could get dies made if I needed them. He knew how to talk paper and weights and stuff like that. Yes, I could make my own contacts. Order direct and save a few bucks but what about my time? It is well worth the small amount extra I would pay to

1. Get the right thing the first time and

2. Spend my time doing something I know a little(very little) about.

So IMHO if you do any amount of business in board games, pdf's, game manufacturing or book publishing, you are going to need a good print service. So in Milton at least, call Trentsprints.
